Kate Oppenheim

Founder and director of KO-Media, Kate Oppenheim is a journalist with more than 25 years’ experience in business media and communications within the hospitality sector. An editor and publisher, she also spent eight years at Sky.

While at Sky, Kate played a key role in the launch of The Pub Channel, produced and directed corporate videos and documentary-style programmes, was the publisher of Sky’s customer magazines and, latterly, was the head of communications.

Kate established KO-Media in 2011 to offer freelance and contract support to clients.

A sector expert, she was a judge for the British Guild of Beer Writers Awards 2019 and for the MA’s Best Employer of the Year category 2019. She was awarded BII’s highest membership ranking in 2019, achieving Companion status, CBII, and serves as a director on the Board of the British Guild of Beer Writers.

Basia Vercueil

A winner of Press Gazette’s ‘New Magazine Designer of the Year’ and a graduate of Central Saint Martins art college, Basia  specialises in book and magazine design. She embraces art from many angles – graphic design, photography, painting, jewellery design and even cake decoration.

Basia intuitively understands what any client is seeking to achieve and always delivers beyond her brief with fresh, exciting ideas that are both practical and imaginative.

Sally Bairstow

Sally is a highly experienced B2B food and drink writer covering both the on-licensed and off-licensed trades. 

A former News Editor for the Morning Advertiser and a ‘Day Editor’ on Sky’s The Pub Channel, she is a talented and original writer, able to create fast and accurate content for print and digital media. 

A beer enthusiast and lover of a pint in a pub, Sally is a member of the British Guild of Beer Writers.

Becks McVarish

After growing up in the hospitality industry and co-managing a bar in the Portugal, Becks spent more than 10 years as a capital markets lawyer in City firms and global financial institutions as a fixed income derivatives specialist.

She has worked on several financial industry publications as a freelance journalist and copy writer, and is also a qualified teacher with a strong interest in early years pedagogy and developing communication skills.

Becks enjoys getting to grips with core values and key concepts, and being involved with lively and varied publications and communication forums.
